Last Night we played for a Wedding
It was a very fun party. The Elks Lodge in Waukesha was a DJ's dream hall; our set up spot was about 10 feet from a very wide door with out steps in the way. So, we pulled the van up nice and close and had it unloaded very quickly. We went about the business of getting set up and we were ready with plenty of time to spare. We'd prefer that over other way of setting up.
The bride and groom arrived to a waiting crowd of guests and before dinner there were some very nice looking snacks set out. We played some background music for dinner; a combination of classical and piano. They were kind enough to let us have dinner, which we truly appreciate as we get hungry too!
Once the table were cleared we went from table to table, introducing ourselves and leaving request cards and pencils.
Then once the dance floor was cleared of the buffet table, the lights were turned down and we went to work on the dance portion of the evening. The couple, a beautiful bride and handsome groom danced the first song together. Then we introduced our selves and started the event off with a well received Polka!
The requests started pouring in and were kept busy entering them into our software, Playtrac, lining them up in play order and pulling CD's. The crowd was really dancing!
The bride and groom had purchased some Glow Sticks for the guests to have fun with and have as a nice party favor. Ernie was kept very busy activating them and putting them together while Tim kept the crowd going with hit after hit of great music.
Then we gathered the bridal party, making sure that the bride had her throw away bouquet and everyone was in the hall ready to go. They looked fabulous with their blue dresses and black tuxedos!
The rest of the night was a blur of a wide variety of music, lights and a little fog just to set the mood. We played everything from Lawrence Welk to Pink and everything in between.
Once again, we were privileged to be part of a very special day for a very special couple. Congratulations!
