May, the month of weddings

Years ago, they used to call "May, the month of weddings." With spring, romance was definitely in the air.

There were many reasons for the link between May and marriage. First, as a transition month between spring and summer, May usually has nice weather with moderate temperatures. In addition, there is an abundance of spring flowers available at reasonable prices.

Many couples take advantage of the beautiful May weather and spend some post-ceremony time outdoors taking photos among the budding trees and colorful landscape. Parks and parkways are alive with lush green grass as well as crimson, magenta and lavender blossoms. Combine this with the backdrop of a deep blue sky and you have a magnificent opportunity for capturing a keepsake wedding portrait.

But eventually, with a growing number of brides and grooms competing for the available churches, halls and DJ's, gradually, September and October also became very popular months for weddings. And quite honestly, other than perhaps December and Lent, weddings are held pretty much any time of the year.

And depending on the time of year, couples use the unique aspects of various months, seasons and holidays to help tailor the theme or color for their wedding ceremony and reception.

So, as times change, we have changed as well. Be sure to check out our photo page for a potpourri of images from the various weddings and other events that we have played for. Visit us at http://www.radiorecordhop.com
